Acne therapy with topical retinoids
I retonoids topical media are important in the treatment of, for their action against comedoni and microcomedoni, and direct anti-inflammatory effects.
Substances approved for the treatment of include tretinoin (retinoic acid all-trans, Retin-A), Isotretinoin (acid 13-cis-retinoic acid), and polyaromatic retinoids third generation, Adapalene (Differin) and Tazarotene ( Zorac).
All retinoids are effective as monotherapy nell'acne mild to moderate, but differ in effectiveness and tolerability.
The Tazarotene 0.1% is more effective than tretinoin 0.025% or 0.1% gel microsphere, or of Adapalene 0.1% gel or cream.
The 0.1% Adapalene has similar efficacy to that of tretinoin 0.025% or tretinoin microsphere 0.1% gel or tretinoin 0.05% cream, or Isotretinoin 0.05% gel.
The Adapalene 0.1% gel is better tolerated than the Tazarotene 0.1% gel, tretinoin 0.025% and tretinoin 0.05% gel, tretinoin 0.05% cream, tretinoin 0.1% microsphere gel or Isotretinoin 0.05% gel.
The topical retinoids normally cause local side effects such as erythema, dryness, itching and pain URENT.
